By Chivalries as tiny,
A Blossom, or a Book,
The seeds of smiles are planted -
Which blossom in the dark.
by Emily Dickinson
(original punctuation)
According to Martha O'Keefe, who wrote "
Into Deep Eternity," an introduction to Emily Dickinson, this poem was written about kind gifts or kind deeds which "plant" the seeds of a smile when "someone needs the memory of kindness."
However did you get this book? Martha O'Keefe's daughter lives near me and her granddaughter was in a religious ed class with me briefly. Anyway, very lovely.
